Fun Fall Festivals
October 5-8 is the 51st Annual Greek Festival, an event at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation with enough food, pastries, wine, and music for everyone to enjoy! With a large selection of wines, cheeses, and olives available, this event is essential for all lovers of Greek culture.
For lovers of blues music, The Lyric will be hosting the Charm City Blues Festival on October 6, a celebration of musical storytelling filled with stark emotion. The festival will feature performances by King George, Pokey Bear, Calvin Richardson, Lenny Williams, and Theodis Ealey, and will transform tragedy, adversity, and heartbreak into a visceral and cathartic experience.
On October 17 from 5-8pm, the Alexander Grass Humanities Institute at the famed Johns Hopkins University will play host to a screening of Birds of Passage, a Columbian film directed by Cristina Gallego & Ciro Guerra, as a part of the Latin American Film Festival. This visually striking film acts as both a thriller and an anthropological study on the consequences of outside influence to indigenous traditions.
Musical Excursions
On October 7, M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore will be visited by two music legends: Stevie Nicks and Billy Joel! Join these two iconic musicians for an unforgettable evening of live music.
For those looking to enjoy some delicious food and drink while they listen to music, the Cross Street Market hosts live music every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Some come to enjoy one of their many merchants, such as Dachi Ramen or the Southside Burger Bar, while you jam out to some amazing tunes.
On October 19, make your way to the iconic Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University to witness the Preparatory Faculty Chamber Recital. Get ready to witness a masterful musical performance that you won’t soon forget!
Experience October Outdoors
The Baltimore Orioles have been having an amazing season, and they are currently among the top teams in the AL East. If you can score tickets, be sure to cheer on our birds at Camden Yards this October.
On October 28 at 8:30am, The Liberty Lot in Locust Point will host the Port to Fort 6k, a run/walk through historic Port Henry that will support Believe in Tomorrow Children’s Foundation. Come grab a complimentary breakfast sandwich, wear a fun costume, and support a great cause!
Luminary Events
As the weather gets colder, motivation to get out of bed grows thin, especially on Mondays. Luckily, Luminary will provide a grab n’ go breakfast every monday in October to motivate you to get up and get started for the week! Breakfast will be open from 7:30am-9:30am, or as supplies last.
Invite your friends out to the Luminary Open House on October 7! There will be light refreshments provided as well as information about Luminary’s many leasing options.
On October 9, Luminary’s Halloween Door Decorating Contest begins! Flex those creative muscles for a chance to win a $50 gift card on October 30.
Luminary appreciates all that nurses do, and on October 11, nurses can stop by the office to get a self care package for Emergency Nurses Day. Just show your badge to verify your status and enjoy the gift,
Crocs are back in a big way, and October 23 is National Crocs Day! Like our post on social media for a chance to win a gift card to the Croc store.
Another chance to let your creativity out is on October 25, as Luminary hosts a resident pumpkin painting event! Show off your skills and append some quality time with your Luminary neighbors. We’ll bring the pumpkins and paint, you just have to bring your creativity.
We love cats at Luminary, and October 29 is National cat Day. If you are a cat owner, come to the office to get some cat treats and toys!
Finally, Luminary will cap the month off strong on Halloween with a resident costume contest, which will be accompanied by a happy hour from 6-8pm. So show off your best looks at this fun event!
